Your payroll tax may go up again if you work in NY. What for? The MTA's budget defecit. It's my belief that the MTA should be privatized. Considering the state taxes you and the people with the most political influence gets to spend it. How do they spend it? The MTA has hired over 100 high level managers since 2004 to oversee the MTA's projects. These people are responsible for overseeing the timely completion of these projects - and making sure they don't go overbudget.
How are they doing? If you look closer - every MTA project is overbutget - some as high as 900 percent. Every MTA project deadline has been pushed up - they can never get a job done on time - and how much do these managers make a year? You pay them and average of 90,000 per year...for a job well done?
We need a free market transit system. Think of the competition as investors and business people vie to make the transit system more efficient, safer and profitable. Instead of the government taxing and spending our hard earned dollars for a failed, faltering business as usual system.
